KWC ATTENDS NI COMMUNITY FRIDGE EVENT

Community Fridge Networking Event in Belfast: Building Resilience and Sustainability Together

KWC were delighted to attend the NI networking and engagement event cantred around the Community Fridge movement. Hosted by Hubbub and the Community Fridge Network, this event was a significant milestone in strengthening community resilience and sustainability across Northern Ireland.

The event featured Cllr Paul Doherty as guest speaker. Cllr Doherty has been a passionate advocate for community-led initiatives, and his insights were invaluable as we explore the future of community fridges in our region. Ed Powell, Mission Manager at Co-op, who has been a great supporter of sustainability projects also was a keynote speaker. His experience and enthusiasm provided further inspiration for how we can continue to make a positive impact in our communities.

This day was designed to bring together community fridge leaders from across Northern Ireland, offering a unique opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and successes. The event provided valuable insights into best practices for operating community fridges, tips on engaging with local communities, and strategies for building stronger networks.

The day was to be a fantastic platform for learning, networking, and collaboration, helping to strengthen the ties between those dedicated to reducing food waste and supporting local communities. Together, we can create a more sustainable and resilient future for all.

We look forward continuing to link with the groups, working together to amplify the impact of our community fridges across Northern Ireland
