Kilcooley Women’s Centre Engages in International Gender Equality Event in Reus, Spain
Kilcooley Women’s Centre (KWC) had the privilege of participating in an enlightening international gender equality event organised by the “Let Her In” Network in Reus, Spain. From September 18th to 21st, 2023, organizations from across Europe converged in Reus to share knowledge, exchange best practices, and develop meaningful collaborations aimed at advancing gender equality across Europe.
A Global Gathering for Gender Equality: The event brought together organizations from Northern Ireland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Poland, and Italy, creating a vibrant tapestry of perspectives and experiences in the pursuit of gender equality. Hosted by Dom Spain and Open Europe, the three-day conference provided a dynamic platform for dialogue, learning, and networking.
Nurturing Relationships and Sharing Expertise: Through a series of workshops, seminars, and cultural exchanges, participants had the opportunity to develop new relationships and deepen existing ones. Many of these connections were nurtured through the Erasmus plus program, underscoring the value of European and international exchange programs in enabling collaboration and innovation, supporting diversity and inclusion.
Enabling Innovation and Collaboration: The event served as a catalyst for the development of new ideas, projects, and approaches aimed at addressing gender inequality. From innovative strategies for advocacy to collaborative initiatives for social change through lifelong learning and training opportunities, participants explored a wide range of topics and forged partnerships that have the potential to drive meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
Exciting Opportunities on the Horizon: As the inaugural conference and seminars for the consortium of Let Her In member groups and associates, the event showcased the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in the realm of gender equality. Through collaboration and collective action, participants demonstrated their commitment to building a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
Looking Forward: KWC had the opportunity to engage with a diverse array of organizations and stakeholders during the event, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration and partnership in the future. The event also provided an opportunity for participants to attend the official opening of the new Open Europe premises, in an amazing renovated heritage building in the heart of Reus, further strengthening ties within the network.
