New Good Relations Project Announced Linking Women Across the Region of Ards North Down
We are delighted to have been successful in our bid to the Central Good Relations Fund of the Executive Office (TEO) to launch a new Good Relations Programme. Building on the previous Leading Ladies programme which advanced leadership and community skills for women from disadvantaged communities, the project will deliver extensive activity across the region.
This transformative initiative is designed to strengthen understanding, respect, and cohesion within our diverse communities, creating a more inclusive and harmonious environment for all.
What is the Good Relations Programme?
The Good Relations Programme aims to build bridges between different communities and groups across NI, promoting dialogue and cooperation. Through a series of workshops, training and networking events, and a collaborative showcase, we will address key issues such as cultural diversity, mutual respect, and social inclusion. Our goal is to break down barriers, dispel misconceptions, and create lasting connections among the residents of Ards and North Down.
Programme Highlights
1. Community Workshops: We will host interactive workshops focusing on cultural awareness and dialogue promoting shared values. These sessions will provide a platform for open discussion, encouraging participants to share their perspectives and learn from one another.
2. Collaborative Showcase: Participants will work together on community projects that celebrate diversity and promote unity. These projects will range from arts and crafts to traditional cooking and food demonstrations, language classes for Irish and Ulster Scots, music and networking opportunities, showcasing the strength of collaboration and the beauty of our diverse community.
3. Cultural Events: We will deliver cross community events that highlight the rich heritage and traditions of different groups within our community. These events will offer a space for celebration, learning, and mutual appreciation and showcase the impact of the project.
How Will This Benefit Our Community?
The Good Relations Programme is designed to create a ripple effect of positive change. By bringing people together and building understanding, we aim to:
- Reduce social tensions and prevent conflicts.
- Enhance mutual respect and appreciation among different community groups.
- Strengthen community bonds and support networks.
- Empower residents with the skills and knowledge to promote inclusivity in their everyday lives.
