Eastside Lives Bangor: Templemore Baths Trip

Join us for a trip to Templemore Baths in East Belfast. One of the city’s most historic buildings, Templemore Baths is the last surviving Victorian public baths in Ireland. It originally opened in 1893 and served as a place for families in east Belfast to access washing and sanitary facilities. At that time East Belfast was home to many workers attracted by the development of the Harland and Wolff shipyard and Belfast’s other manufacturing industries.

Starting in 2014 the Baths have undergone a transformation as part of a £17 million restoration project. Now, alongside state of the art sports facilities, the building features a new Heritage Space which tells the stories of the ordinary working people who built the Titanic and connects people to the rich social history of the local neighbourhood.

Our trip will include a fascinating tour of the Heritage Space given by an expert local guide. This trip is a must for anyone who is interested in social history, heritage, architecture and the story of the Titanic. The trip will run from c10am to c2pm meeting at and returning to The Old Market House.
