A Festive Celebration at the Old Market House

The Old Market House in Bangor came alive with Christmas cheer during a magical switch-on event hosted by Kilcooley Women’s Centre (KWC). Over 1,000 visitors joined us to celebrate the festive season, creating a heartwarming atmosphere on Main Street.  Despite the main event by Council being delayed due to Storm Bert, we still delivered an amazing day for all the family.  We welcomed visitors from as far afield as Canada !

Our free Santa’s Grotto was a hit, delighting 350 children who shared their Christmas wishes with Santa himself, who was assisted by Mrs Claus and their Elf Jade.

Meanwhile, little ones engaged their creativity in a festive craft activity, while families enjoyed mulled wine, mince pies, and traditional shortbread.

Gifted Enterprise supported by Bangor Chamber of Commerce, proudly presented a vibrant Christmas Market featuring local artisans and makers. Shoppers explored an array of unique gifts while embracing the holiday spirit. Children participated in a coloring competition, and everyone joined in the excitement of our festive ballot. Well done to all our prize winners.  Proceeds go to the building fund for the Old Market House heritage restoration. 

KWC also took this opportunity to showcase our heritage and community engagement projects, highlighting opportunities coming in 2025 and celebrating the community spirit that defines Main Street Bangor.
