BARISTA BAR REACHING OUT TO THOSE IN NEED
QUEEN B Community Café: A Warm Hub to Reduce Isolation, Support Victims of Domestic Abuse, and Provide Crisis Assistance
At the heart of Kilcooley Square community lies a vital resource designed to help those who need it most: our Community Café. This safe, welcoming space aims to reduce social isolation, offer support to victims of domestic abuse, and assist individuals in crisis. More than just a café, it serves as a warm community hub where people can find connection, practical help, and the opportunity to access essential services.
Reducing Social Isolation
One of the key roles of the cafe is to bring people together, especially those who may be feeling lonely or isolated. In a world where isolation can severely affect mental health and wellbeing, the café provides a place to enjoy a cup of tea or a meal in the company of others. For many, this simple act of gathering in a friendly space makes a world of difference. It helps people build new friendships, regain confidence, and feel a part of the community once again.
Supporting Victims of Domestic Abuse
Our café is also a refuge for victims of domestic abuse and helps us host the One Stop Shop advice project.
We understand that those experiencing abuse may feel trapped or alone. Here, they can discreetly access information about local services, speak to professionals in a supportive environment, or simply find solace in a warm, non-judgmental space. Through linking with support networks and services, the café offers a critical pathway to safety, empowerment, and recovery for those affected by domestic abuse.
Barista Training Programme –
We offer Barista Training to those wishing to volunteer or simply wish to add skills to their CV.
Assisting People in Crisis
For individuals and families in crisis—whether financial, emotional, or related to housing—the Community Café is a lifeline. We partner with various local organisations to offer on-site community advice services, connecting people to support such as food banks, housing assistance, and emergency support. Our team provides immediate help while working to equip individuals with the resources and knowledge they need to overcome their difficulties.
Linking Service Provision & Wellbeing Programmes
Beyond its immediate services, the café acts as a hub for broader community engagement and wellbeing programmes. Visitors can learn about upcoming workshops, join wellbeing and mental health initiatives, and access guidance on everything from financial advice to health and wellness. The café’s connection with local agencies allows us to create a holistic support system, ensuring that no one has to face their challenges alone.
Together, through the Community Café, we are helping to create a more connected, supported, and resilient community. Whether you’re looking for a warm space, in need of a listening ear, or simply want to enjoy the company of others, you will be made very welcome.
