Week 1: Drills and Saws

In-depth knowledge of combi drills and impact drivers: functions, settings, common issues, and basic maintenance

Sawing techniques: tenon saws, panel saws, and Japanese saws

Marking and measuring: carpentry tools like try squares and combination squares

Understanding drill/saw bits and different sub-surfaces
Week 2: Stud Walls

Building a stud wall (wooden frame and plasterboard)

Using a stud finder to locate studs for hanging purposes

Fixing floating/cubed shelving and curtain poles with the correct fixings

Repairing holes in walls and wall panelling using MDF
Week 3: Power Tools

Introduction to jigsaws, multitools, trim routers, and SDS drills: usage and maintenance
Week 4: Electrics

Theory of basic electrics

Practical skills: cable stripping, changing plugs, light fittings, and socket faces
