Monday 3rd March, 11am to 1pm, The Old Market House
Join us for a morning celebrating Ulster-Scots heritage and history with an interactive talk exploring the story of the Islandmagee Witches.
In March and September of 1711, in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Ireland’s last witch trials took place, those of the ‘Islandmagee Witches’. The story of the trials is one of superstition, suspected demonic possession and tragedy and has been subject of books, dramas and academic research. Our talk will give a fascinating glimpse into this notorious event in local history.
The morning will also include a special Ulster-Scots themed brunch.
Part of the Eastside Lives Bangor programme supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
