Queen Bee Community Cafe in Development

Buzzing with Purpose: Queen Bee Community Cafe

We will soon be welcoming the public and our service users to the Queen Bee Community Cafe, where every cup of coffee comes with a side of social impact. Situated in the heart of Kilcooley, our cafe isn’t just a place to grab a bite to eat; it’s a hive of activity dedicated to empowering individuals and enriching our community.

Queen Bee operates as a social enterprise training facility and catering hub for Kilcooley Women’s Centre, with support from the NI Housing Executive Social Enterprise Programme. Our mission goes beyond serving delicious snacks and beverages; we’re committed to providing opportunities for people to thrive.

Training Facility and Catering Hub:

At Queen Bee, we believe in the transformative power of education and skills development. Through our training programs, we equip individuals with the knowledge and expertise they need to succeed in the hospitality industry. From barista training, food hygiene  to culinary skills, we offer hands-on learning experiences that prepare participants for employment opportunities.

But our impact extends beyond the walls of our cafe. As a catering hub, we provide catering services for our in-house events, meetings, and functions, generating revenue that directly supports our training programs and community initiatives. Whether it’s a community lunch or training event, choosing Queen Bee catering means investing in our community’s future.

Supporting Employment and Volunteering:

One of our primary objectives is to support people into employment and volunteering roles. We provide mentorship, guidance, and practical experience to help individuals build confidence, develop transferable skills, and access job opportunities. Through partnerships with local businesses and organizations, we create pathways to sustainable employment and meaningful engagement in the workforce.

Drop-In Support Service: In addition to our training and catering initiatives, Queen Bee serves as a much-needed drop-in support service for vulnerable people in the area. Our welcoming atmosphere provides a safe space for individuals to connect, seek guidance, and access essential resources. Whether someone needs a warm drink, a listening ear, or assistance navigating services, we’re here to lend a helping hand.

Supporting Kilcooley Women’s Centre:

Proceeds from Queen Bee directly support Kilcooley Women’s Centre and its various projects, including the Social Supermarket. By choosing to dine with us or utilize our catering services, you’re contributing to the sustainability of these essential community initiatives. Together, we can create positive change and build a stronger, more resilient community.
