LEVEL 1 COURSE – ‘Introducing U-S’ (Ulster-Scots)
This Level 1 course is designed to provide a basic – and very interactive – view of Ulster-Scots history and culture. The course runs for four sessions of two hours each,
Topics covered include:
“What it means to be Ulster-Scot”; this is a fully interactive evening with group discussions exploring perceptions of identity and some archaeology;
“An Overview of the Plantation”; this gives a summary of the Plantation over Ulster, including a locally relevant portion introducing some family names;
“U-S & Kith and Kin” – an exploration of how local family names fit into local history and
“Talking with U-S” – a fully interactive exploration of the Ulster-Scots language and its evolution and change within Ulster, including poetry and drama.

Each registration is for one named participant only. The details collected at registration are used to grant access and issue certificates if applicable to that individual. Please ensure you register only for yourself.
